Pukeberg Glasbruk Nybro Sweden


Pukebergs Glasbruk in Madesjö was founded in 1871 by a master glassblower called Conrad Wilhelm Nyström along with J. E. Lindberg. Nyström has previously worked at Kosta, Transjö and Boda glassworks in Sweden. In 1894 the glassworks was bought by Arvid Böhlmark and in 1898 became part of AB Böhlmarks Lampfabrik (lamp factory).

By 1922 there were 14 workshops: 2 for pressed glass, 3 for ornamental glass, 1 for lamp glass, 2 for domestic glassware, and 6 for electric lighting. By 1932 the product range consisted of 750 varieties of glass tableware and ornamental glass. One of their main prodcuts in the 1930's was the glass globes for petrol stations whilst some of their items were decorated with overlays of ivory and other precious materials.In 1954 when the new blowing room was built Pukeberg could boast of being Sweden's longest glassworks as 175 metres long.
